  1. Focus on one to two long-tail keywords that match the intent of the reader.
  2. Use keywords in your title, meta description, headings and URL and include targeted keywords (and variations) in the copy.
  3. Start with the end in mind: What is the reader going to get out of the article? What are they going to learn? Include keywords in the first few sentences.
  4. Break up content with headings so that it’s easily scannable.
  5. Keep blocks of text short: three to four lines max.
